My graduate work was completed in Boston in 2017, where I married my long-standing love of dance and movement with psychology, receiving a master’s degree and license in mental health counseling with a dance/movement therapy and expressive arts therapy specialization.  I have also completed a certification course in Nutritional Mental Health Counseling in addition to being a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and have now completed comprehensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

I have worked with a variety of populations since the start of my training in 2014 including: Children ages 3-12 and adolescents with developmental, behavioral, traumatic and/or neurological disabilities, traumatic brain injuries (i.e. concussion) families of children with special needs, and healthy adults and couples seeking counseling. Many of my clients experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD and executive function difficulties.

A Jersey native, I completed my undergraduate studies in psychology at Rutgers University, and my graduate studies at Montclair State, obtaining a Masters in Clinical Psychology. During my years at RU and MSU, I spent time working in the Douglass Developmental Disabilities Center, supporting children diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and at the Center for Early Childhood Mental Health, supporting social skills groups for children with attentional and social deficits. Additionally, I spent time in the Cerebral Lateralization Lab, where I studied contributions of the cerebral hemispheres as related to mood, cognition, and perception.

Prior to graduating from MSU, I also obtained school psychology certifications in the states of NJ and CA. Afterward, I spent several years on the west coast supporting schools in the underserved community of South Los Angeles, focusing on trauma-informed instruction and cultural responsiveness. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I returned home to NJ and obtained a Masters in Educational Leadership.

“ My daughter had a speaking part in her 3rd grade musical. Working with Sarina created a vast change from her experience in the fall where she was hardly speaking at all till now when she performed...I can’t even believe those two experiences happened in the same year! Sarina helped her make so much progress! ”
